Rogue Fitness Order
The deadline for orders for Rogue Fitness is Friday, May 25th. For those wishing to order something, please place your name and the item you’d like to order on the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board at the gym. If you ordered a skipping rope, please be specific as there are two kinds of rope on the site.
Handstand clinic June 24th
James will be holding a handstand clinic on Sunday, June 24th from 10am – 12pm. This 2-hour clinic is available to any CrossFit Islander member and will cover everything you’ll need to get inverted! This clinic is for ALL members regardless of your ability and it’ll help you feel a little more comfortable with a movement many think is way beyond their reach. With a little practice though, anyone can perform a handstand.
We’ll be working on skills, strength, balance and conditioning during this clinic, performing moves such as static holds, balancing exercises, handstand walking progressions and handstand push-ups. Balance is one of the 10 physical skills of fitness as defined by CrossFit and perfecting the handstand will help immensely in your CrossFit workouts!

New class for advanced athletes!
Starting next week, CrossFit Islander will be offering a class for advanced athletes. This class will be offered three times a week, on Monday at 6pm, Wednesday at 6pm and Friday at 7pm. This class is offered only to those capable of doing CrossFit workouts as prescribed, and are capable of, or near capable of being able to perform advanced CrossFit movements such as muscle ups, handstand push-ups, rope climbs and the Olympic lifts.
These classes will be intense, fast-paced and challenging and will provide clients with the opportunity of being more prepared for next season’s CrossFit Games Open and Regionals competitions. While it is not everyone’s goal to compete in CrossFit, either locally, nationally or internationally, CrossFit Islander certainly encourages anyone interested in competing to strive for this, and one day represent CrossFit Islander at the Reebok CrossFit Games!
Do 10 reps per arm, working your way up in weight. Concentrate on your technique and don’t worry about using a lot of weight!
3 rounds for time:
5 wall climbs
10 chest-to-bar pull-ups
20 jumping air squats
40 Russian medicine ball twists
